Ireland Travel News – Dublin Voted 5th Friendliest City in the World
Ireland has long been known internationally for its welcoming sociable people and Ireland Travel has a nurturing side that lends itself to a friendly mothering of visitors to our country. A recent survey by the eminent travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller has confirmed Ireland Travel as a most welcoming experience by listing Dublin as the 5th friendliest city in the world as voted for by the readers of the prestigious magazine.
Voters in Condé Nast Traveller’s annual Readers’ Choice Survey praised Dublin by calling it “green, lush, and very walkable”, and saying “it is the kind of place you stop in for a drink in a local pub, only to end up chatting with the locals for hours.”
Niall Gibbons, Tourism Ireland chief executive, said:
Again and again, our research shows us that the friendliness of our people is one of our unique selling points. It is the warm welcome and the ‘craic’ here that resonates with our overseas visitors and makes Dublin and Ireland such a great choice for a short break or holiday.
Ireland Travel also received accolades form Lonely Planet in 2010 as the most friendly country in the world and in 2013 was found to be the 12th most peaceful place on earth by the Global Peace Index.
